Flashback Friday

Back to some basic Asian cooking. I will have to explore more variety of cooking. I mean I am aware of the vast universe that food encompasses, but it is hard to try and incorporate all. Essentially, everything always goes back to basics, but then there a few key ingredients which completely changes and lifts a dish. I guess there is no right or wrong in cooking, so long the flavours work. Taste is important.

Beef capsicum and mushrooms
Veg stir fry with herbal chicken soup
Miso-glazed tofu with veg stir fry and carrot ginger coriander soup
Meefoon
Chicken korma with rice and cucumber
Fried rice

Miso soup with spinach, and gyoza with edamame

Chicken bok choy and mushroom

Flashback Friday

Words cannot express what I went through over the last month. It's been crazy and literally overwhelming. I mean so much happened and I had to deal with a lot of things I was not prepared for. However, I'm not complaining or anything since I know that experiences, good and bad, make us grow. I am slowly getting into the habit of cooking again. I enjoy cooking and it's one of my passion. I should do what I love and cook the food I like.

Back to cooking

We are definitely in Winter. It's chilly and freezing cold in the morning, let alone at night. I am in the middle of nothing and would you believe that we are already halfway through the year. I know, it's crazy. How and when did we end up in June, anyway?

Honestly, the past few weeks have been full of setbacks. Fortunately there were a few achievements as well.  Sometimes life takes you by surprise and puts you through so many different situations all at once. I'm glad it's all over now. I am back to cooking and this is really the main focus of today's post.

I think food is really something that can change your perspective on life, especially when cooking. I was caught up with various things happening lately and I lost interest and focus on plenty of the important matters. I needed this moment of disorientation to get back on track.

So I have finally make it back to cooking normally. I am making as many soups as I can to warm myself up during the cold days. Of course here are a few snaps of the simple meals I have put together lately. It feels so good to really cooking from the heart for the soul. I like this kind of nourishment.

Fish with pumpkin gratin and salad
Roast pork with roast pumpkin and beetroot feta spinach salad and avo and mash
Gyoza and soup and calamari
My chicken rice soup

Smoked salmon, avo and feta on toast with cherry tomatoes
Vegetarian lasagna
Lemon chicken
Beef tomato capsicum and mushroom stir-fry with carrot soup
Curried eggs on toast
Corn soup
Carrot miso  soup

Flashback Friday

We are quickly heading towards winter. It's been very chilly in the morning and my body is slowly adapting to the cold weather. I am still very busy, and we are already in May. This is crazy how time flies. Sometimes I just want to sit down and spend some time reflecting. Time is so precious, but it's still hard to use it in the best way possible. I try to organise when I can,  but unfortunately things, most often, do not go to plan, do they? We do our best.

This is a recap of previous two week's meals. I did not cook as much as I would like, but will hopefully manage to this coming week. I am still adjusting with everything that is happening.
Pork fillet with sweet potato chips and salad
My 'mapo' tofu
Served with rice and sauteed spinach
Pumpkin soup
Herbal chicken soup with zucchini and rice
Quinoa, kidney beans, corn and tuna salad with avo and coriander
Broccoli stir fry with tomato salsa, salted fish, miso-glazed tofu and dhal soup

Flashback Friday

This week has been unexpectedly busy. I did miss last week's flashback, so this week's post is inclusive of two weeks meals. I did not cook as much as I would like to, but I am really glad being able to produce new dishes. I made braised red cabbage and I loved it so much from trying it the first time that I have been wanting to cook and eat it again for a while. Well, cravings have been filled.

Happy weekend.

Pan-fried baramundi fish, grilled asparagus, deepfried seafood and hollandaise sauce
Beef steak wih asparagus, sauteed mushroom and spinach, and mushroom sauce
Minestone soup

Herbal chicken soup with sauteed lettuce
Lamb cottage pie with braised cabbage, cucumber and carrot
Fried rice with braised cabbage
Bacon, mushroom, pea and zucchini risotto

Flashback Friday

This has been a long week, as usual. I managed to cook over the weekend and I should do even better this coming week. It's been rather cold over the past few days. I guess winter is coming, brrr. Well, one good thing is the warm soups that I shall indulge into soon. Yes for soups and warm blankets. Oh and let's not forget about the tea. Plenty of tea time ahead.

As always, this is a brief recap of this week's meals and dishes I prepared.
Potato leek soup and Cream of mushroom soup
Beef capsicum and mushroom stir fry

Cauliflower soup
Sardines, avo and medley tomato with toast
