My version of 'hor fun'

To be honest, I do not really know the name of this dish, so I'm basically interpreting it my way. See the inverted commas hehe. We have a different name for it in Mauritius. I am afraid I do not know how to spell it either. Oops.
Anyway my version of it is basically the same thing as my 'meefoon soup'.
I think this is healthy and delicious. Way better than the one at the restaurants.

Snack time

Alright I love SpongeBob. I mean this has to be among the funniest cartoon shows I ever watch when I was little. I still remember the song 'Bob l'éponge carrée'. The other day at the supermarket, I saw this Spongebob biscuits and thought it would be awesome for snacking. I was pleasantly surprise to see the individual packaging of the biscuits. They are so cute and funny. Gotto love SpongeBob.

Steamed veggies and chicken

From watching Janella using the bamboo steamer on the Good chef Bad chef cooking show, I really wanted to try too. Actually I saw them using it on Ready Steady Cook too to steam vegetables and I thought 'what a genuine idea, oil-free food, and so quick' because simply need to wait the steamer to do its magic lol. So I bought them from the Asian store and for my first time I wanted to steam some chicken. I also steamed some Brussels sprouts. I actually do not like the taste though, a bit too bitter for me. The awesome thing about those bamboo steamer is that you can stack them, thus enabling you to cook several food items at once. The other good thing is about steaming itself, such a healthy way to cook food. Guilt-free cooking and eating.

Roasted parsnip

I actually like eating parsnip. They have that nutty flavour, more subtle than carrot, but near-similar texture to potato. This is actually very easy, simply cut the parsnip in quarter length-wise, brush with oil oil and honey and put in the oven until cooked (about 20-30 minutes at 180 degrees, depending on how many you have).

Lunch with some baked potatoes and sausages...yum

Throwback in the kitchen

I am simply posting a few dishes that I have made over the past few weeks, yes few weeks because I did not have much time to post and all. They are mostly meals that I cooked several times or very often because they are simple and delicious and healthy and nutritious and what else. There are the tofu dishes, pumpkin, stir fries, pasta, soups and so on. Have a look :)

Lipton tea

I received those from the post the other day: lipton tea samples. Yayyy. It was from Woolies facebook page ad. Got to love free samples. Oh yes. I was pretty impressed by the packaging. There was this pyramid shape (like from the ads) and the photos etc. The tea tastes wonderful too. Free advertising from me. I'm so generous I know.

Pizza night

...or rather pizza time. More pictures of pizzas home made and take-away.
One advice if you are making your own pizza using the pre-made bases: use tomato paste on your pizza base, you do not want your base to absorb too much liquid. If your ingredients contain too much liquid, then the base will be soggy (which I'm sure you don't want). Also be creative.

Salmon pizza with sundried tomatoes, olives, green capsicum and button mushroom toppings
Same as above but with spinach leaves
Pizza with bacon, feta cheese, mushroom, capsicum and sundried tomatoes
As above with cherry tomatoes minus bacon

Back...and my 'made-up' bday cake

Alright, I know I have a lot of posting to catch up with. I don't even know where to start *sigh* Life simply keeps on getting busier and busier. Sometimes I wish time would stop and in that instant you would not think of anything. Just stop thinking. What has happened while I was gone: my birthday. I'm officially 21. I can't believe I'm nine years to being 30. Oh well since I'm talking of birthday I will post the picture of my 'made-up' birthday cake or rather a more-or-less improvised one. I could not choose which cake to have and well why not take one slice of each, definitely much better than a whole cake with only one flavour/taste. Now, each mouthful tasted wonderful. These cakes were so delicious, just like a cake is meant to taste in my mind, spongy, sweet, soft, melting in the mouth and you can't get enough! It was by far the most instant genius idea-says me :p :) This just confirm the fact that as we grow older we become smarter and wiser :p Cheers!
