So yesterday I was really glad to have lunch outside. Despite all that I've said and proliferate on cooking at home and eating healthy (I know I know, I'm not contradicting myself), it's really nice and refreshing to eat in a restaurant with other people. Things when eating outside, eat moderately, not too fast as eating slowly make you feel fuller, and drink lot and lot and lot of water after.
We went to a buffet, I really like this restaurant because it has veggies, meat. Actually it's not that unhealthy at all. It was seafood theme and we had half a lobster, wow it was so huge lol. It was my first time eating eat lobster as well, taste okay. The roast pumpkin was simply awesome and believe me I was like I would never eat/ try pumpkin in high school, like ever lol. Just saying that you don't know until you try, so just say you won't like something or wouldn't be able to unless you try ;)
Here some pics of what we had:

Busy day in the kitchen
Yesterday was my brother's birthday. I cooked lot and was so tired after. Did I mentioned that working too much is not good for your health. You should try to rest. Wait, I just questioned myself about brekkie as well. Yeah so because I had to go work early in the day and wake up quite late, and wanted to cook my lunch and this sago dessert. Man I didn't know that sago took that lot of a time to cook. After that I didn't have time to eat my ravishing breakkie and had to make it with milk and weetbix...and I realised that indeed I felt hungry and tired the whole day.
So I cooked this sago dessert (like I mentioned in an early post, I like doing things on impulse- it works best). It's actually a sort of coconut sago pudding/jelly.
I also cooked my lunch to bring at work. Simple dish: egg omelet with carrots. Try add some thyme leaves, really help to enhance the flavour.
After work I cooked fried noodles for my brother's birthday. A quite easy dish, but quite lengthy in terms of preparation time.
Finally I made a cake, late at night, a hot milk cake. It was my first time baking a cake, so I wanted to try an easy one. Anyway, the result was quite catastrophic, I don't know what turn bad in the process because the cake was quite compact and thick. It looked decent though:
That bring us to the end of this post. Hope it gives you some idea of what to cook at home.

Back with Sweet and Sour fish
Okay, I just couldn't wait any longer to post. So here I am with my new 'trying' dish: sweet and sour fish. I longed to make it since ages but couldn't get decided. I'm not sure what push me this time, but like I tell myself everytime and is a fan of : let you be guided by your senses all the time, especially in cooking- it acts as a boosting force with all the excitement and pleasure; it just makes you feel good and makes your mind and body happy to put it simply ( okay I tend to get over explanatory most of the time, thing I hope I improve over time :) ). So I decided to make that dish on the spot... (okay I have to admit it was partly because I had a green capsicum and a red pepper waiting to be cooked in the fridge and we just had beef capsicum earlier in the week...so ta-da just made my mind).
I have to admit that I'm not that good in cooking fish, I just it twice or so, so the fish was a bit white.
Another thing is that I was quite ignorant about fish prices. Omy they are quite pricey. Anyway this is the fish I bought:
Well I made the dish and it turned out nice. The sauce taste just like I wanted it too. I'm not sure which recipe I made it from. I keep forgetting to bookmark my pages and I had the hassle of looking back at all the pages again.
I'm pretty sure I follow this recipe. I add a carrot, lifting the colours.
Some pictures:
PS: Click on pictures to make it bigger (I know maybe you know already ;) just saying...hmm okay leaving)..

Break
Just dropped by to say that I won't be posting a lot this week and next week as well probably because of my study and work. My job is killing me and now with my study load to catch up, I won't have lot of time for myself. Believe me procrastinating is the worst thing ever and cramming is even worst. Don't worry, I'll still be cooking and will return with great posts soon enough hopefully.
Quote of the day: Do not ever give up, try try and keep trying.

Easy pasta dish
The other day, I had no idea what I would have for lunch and I saw we had this instant pasta ready to cook. This seemed to be a perfect dish. We had the mushroom flavour and you know I like mushrooms so much. I just add a grated carrot to it and it was just ready to eat. Yum

Cookie and cream chocolate chip cheesecake cookie
Believe me the cookie that I made contains everything that the title says. Omg I just had a lot of craving for oreo cookies lately and everything that has to do with cookie and cream from ice cream to shakes from cheesecake to cookies. So I saw this Oreo Cheesecake Cookies recipe and instantly fell in love with it. I mean the photos are so gorgeous and the cookies look so yummy. My thought was that I HAD to make those cookies and I had my try and they were just lovely and so good. I love the crunchiness and the taste everything. Only bad thing is that it's really rich with cream and butter in it, and sugar. So try keep your hand off the cookie container...I know hard thing to do ey. Well that said, a cookie here and there doesn't kill and it's just a perfect snack.
Ready to be put in the oven |
Just out from the oven :))) |
Cooling down on wire rack; can't wait to try them |

Corn, mushroom and chicken curry
I had to make this recipe for my bro's birthday, you know in chinese we say that we should eat noodles on your birthday as it will bring you long life. Not sure about this, but likewise, it is THE tradition and couldn't escape that. So since I was not in the mood to make fried noodles - yet to make- I just opt for this simple dish. It's just as easy as it looks and was really yummy and of course healthy.
This is the dish:
Recently, I've really turn crazy about healthy dishes. So bear with me saying 'healthy' for about a million times throughout this blog sorryyy.
By healthy I mean having veggies in all the meal I eat and try maintain an equilibrium and having a balanced meal for all your meals. Try that, you feel so much better, mind saying. Your body will thank you later I can assure you ;)
Anyway, I've been thinking that a positive state of mind is as powerful as a healthy body.

Chocolate chips cheesecake cookies
Another thing is that I'm also a cheesecake lover, so I decided to make those cookies. It turns out that I had chocolate chips in the fridge, the cadbury ones are so absolutely niceeeee. I like it when you try to make recipes according to what you have in hand. This lead me to say that by cooking you become a better organiser- since you have to prepare, be aware and have full conscience of the things you have bla bla bla.
So I have to say that it was my first time making cookies. I know you'll be over with my 'first' you can blame me but as an excuse I'm only a newbie in baking *innocent look*.
So, yeah, I made them, first time using a hand electronic mixer as well haha- okay nothing great here. So I was amazed by the end result. I must admit that they are quite a bother-considering time to prepare and clean after- to make only a lil and you tell yourself that it's so much easier and faster to buy from the shop, but hey, what's not a better feeling that to remove the cookies from the oven -even having a sneak peek at them baking...excitement. I know I sound like a fool just now. Anyway, my first try did not turn out too bad, see for yourself:
The recipe said to keep in the fridge after to have the cheesecake flavour. A definitetely mouth-watering cookie.

Pandan muffin
Well, I always feel excited looking at the recipes on the net. It inspires me to bake more and try new recipes. Siince I'm an absolute lover of pandan flavour, I decided to have my try at pandan muffins.
The result turned out to pretty. It was not sweet enough though, my fault I know coz I decreased the required amount of sugar ya ya. Anyway, it looked so deli, very happy how they rose nicely.
Have a look:

Oat meal, cranberry & pecan Muffin
Alright so *drum rolls* first time I made muffin by myself and the result damn okay. Weirdly enough, it tastes like I expect it to taste. It's nice to eat it just after it cools down a lil from the oven- the top's still crunchy.
It has that nice crunchiness both inside and outside + the reason I like this recipe so much is that it contains so much goodness- oats, cranberry, pecan nuts and sultanas _ it's super delicious and filling.
