Raw food workshop

Today I attended a raw food workshop which was essentially meant to show us how to make raw chocolate truffles for Christmas. I was pleasantly happy that the presenter, Tamara Brown from the Raw Food Girl, also went through a mini presentation about health facts, healthy food choices, especially about eating whole food, in the process.
I will briefly summarise what I learned today. Among the  main causes of death is malnutrion, Ironically enough though, we have so much food around us and yet we are not eating properly. Adding to the pollution and stress of our daily life, we are not getting the energy we need to sustain our metabolism. Many of us feel tired, and weak even after eating, which means that we are not eating the food our body needs to perform to its potential. It is therefore essential to get the best food in our body, maintaining a healthy diet by maintaining a ratio of 60% alkaline and 40% acid of our food consumption. In a nutshell, eating raw food, wholefoods (unprocessed food), less meat, plenty of fruits and vegetables, minus sugary, processed, fatty products, containing lot of salt and additives. We have to be very wary of what we eat. In so doing, we will have more energy to perform rather than the energy being spent to digest our surplus of food with low nutritional value.
Also, about the food intake, we should be eating 30% protein, 40% veg/fruits and 30% carbs, Of the 30% protein, only 10% should come from animal sources. Always try to help yourself though the things you eat rather than go for medication because by doing that former, you are tackling the core of the problem instead of superficially 'bandaging' the issue until it resurface. The point is to assess what we are eating now and how we can make better food choices for a healthy life.
